Farm Loop Coffee is thrilled to be buying direct from the farmers with this new release. Back in March of 2023, Zoe from FLC went down to Chicago to take a training on the new roaster and met Lauren, co-owner of Anticonquista Café. Anticonquista Café is a coffee roastery based out of Chicago that imports and roasts coffee from their family farm on the border of southeastern Guatemala and southwestern Honduras. Anticonquista Café, based in Chicago and run by Elmer Fajardo Pacheco and Lauren Reese, is an immigrant & woman owned business looking to close the gap between coffee farmers and coffee consumers. Elmer grew up cultivating coffee at his family farm, Finca El Amate, where coffee farming goes back generations. Elmer’s village, Aldea de Jesús, is located in the mountainous and remote southeastern region of Chiquimula, Guatemala along the southwestern border of Ocotepeque, Honduras. Along with their family, Lauren and Elmer not only harvest their coffee in Guatemala, they also roast and brew their coffee in Chicago. They tirelessly advocate for better working conditions, liveable wages, worker housing, and immigrant and women-owned businesses.

Farm Loop Coffee is honored to be able to buy direct from the farmers at Finca El Amate, and even more so to roast up their coffee here in Alaska. We have roasted this coffee to a medium-light level, highlighting a medium body with notes of dark chocolate and clove, and a lingering lemon acidity. This coffee is chocolate-y and juicy all at once.
